Même si le bâtiment de la grande Halle s’impose dans l’espace urbain, et plus encore depuis sa rénovation et son architecture lumineuse, on ne manquera pas cette année de fréquenter non loin de là le Pavillon Paul Delouvrier. C’est là qu’officiera Marko, dans un de ces labos dont Les Rencontres ont le secret : ce graffeur du XXIème siècle a la particularité de jouer de la lumière ou des projections comme il joue de l’aérosol, et de peindre les corps comme les murs. Après Saint-Denis, dont il est originaire, l’Allemagne, le Japon, la Chine, la Villette pourra faire l’expérience d’un acte plastique et poétique hors du commun. Les Rencontres tiennent depuis longtemps un rôle essentiel dans le milieu de la danse hip hop, à la fois défricheur de talents et soutien de projets engagés. C’est Farid O qui semble le mieux répondre aux deux exigences. Déjà reconnu avec Etre dans la rue l’an dernier, il revient avec Saleté, une pièce pour quatre danseurs et son complice le musicien Romuald Houziaux. Ici, Sad, clandestin irakien venu vendre des roses en Autriche, porte la parole d’une société triste et intolérante face à l’Autre.
Un débat important : l’expression politique de l’engagement du corps
Danseur remarquable et remarqué dans les pièces d’Hamid Ben Mahi (Cie Hors Série), Bouba signe ici sa première création en tant que directeur artistique des Associés Crew. Etre et renaître, voici un titre qui en dit long sur l’acte fondateur d’une démarche artistique personnelle, que l’on retrouvera sur le deuxième plateau de danse hip hop de cette édition des Rencontres, aux côtés de J.C. Pambè Wayack, d’A’Corps, et de la compagnie X Press. Autre transfuge de Hors Série : Sabine Samba, qui montre encore une personnalité riche d’influences et d’inspiration avec Rétroviseur. Entre danse, théâtre et rap, elle raconte, bien au-delà de son histoire, une vie d’artiste, d’illusions, reflet des tensions de la vie d’aujourd’hui. Mais que font ici les Pokemon Crew, dans une pièce déjà multi-diffusée, au premier degré et à la virtuosité à la limite de l’ennui ? Un propos bien pâle face aux Brésiliens de Membros, dont l’engagement n’est pas uniquement physique mais porte, bien au-delà, une parole politique.
