S’attachant, depuis sa création en 1992, « à parler des mouvements du monde de façon joyeuse et toujours documentée », la Nième Compagnie a pour ambition d’œuvrer à « un théâtre populaire et savant. » Un théâtre que Claire Truche (codirectrice de ce collectif basé en région lyonnaise) cherche aujourd’hui à investir par le biais d’Un Chacal, des chamots ?, un spectacle qui, en revisitant nos tics de langage contemporains à travers l’éclairage de l’histoire, souhaite montrer que l’évolution des mots est le miroir de l’évolution des hommes. « Il fallait chercher à raconter cette histoire de pillages, d’emprunts, de règlements et de dérèglements, (…) de métissage constant entre les peuples », explique Claire Truche. Cela, « en n’oubliant jamais de s’en amuser », précise-t-elle, en veillant à « partager avec les spectateurs la jubilation et le plaisir que nous avons eu à plonger ainsi dans l’abîme vertigineux et stupéfiant des mots. »
