Essaïon Avignon Théâtre / d’après Gustave Flaubert / adaptation et interprétation Isabelle Andréani / mise en scène Xavier Lemaire
Gustave Flaubert dit de Félicité qu’elle est « dévote mais mystique, dévouée sans exaltation et tendre comme du pain frais ». C’est au sein du recueil de nouvelles intitulé Trois Contes, paru en 1877, que l’auteur de Madame Bovary nous raconte « la vie obscure » de cette « pauvre fille de campagne », une paysanne orpheline entrée au service d’une bourgeoise de Pont-l’Evêque, Madame Aubain. La comédienne Isabelle Andréani s’empare de cette histoire qu’elle a elle-même adaptée. Elle incarne ce « cœur simple » sous la direction du metteur en scène Xavier Lemaire, dans un seule-en-scène qui veut révéler le regard intime que Félicité porte sur ce qui l’entoure.
Une héroïne ordinaire
Héroïne ordinaire d’une existence banale, Félicité « aime successivement un homme, les enfants de sa maîtresse, un neveu, un vieillard qu’elle soigne, puis son perroquet ». Dans un décor dépouillé évoquant les restes d’une demeure disparue, Isabelle Andréani cherche à transmettre aux publics « la force émotionnelle et lumineuse » qui la traverse. Avec, comme respiration sonore, le quatuor La jeune fille et la Mort de Franz Schubert, Un Cœur simple nous propose un voyage « dans un temps où le quotidien et le sacré se côtoyaient », « une époque où la vie et la mort donnaient force au sens de l’éternité. »
