« Dans Un doux reniement, explique le metteur en scène Matthieu Roy, Christophe Pellet nous invite à suivre le cheminement des pensées d’un jeune homme, Paul Fradontal, qui se rend à l’enterrement d’une de ses amies. Le temps d’un aller-retour en train entre Paris et Trouville, lui reviennent en mémoire des images, des scènes de sa vie passée aux côtés de la défunte. Ce voyage intérieur, qui est ponctué de rencontres avec des spectres, lui permet de mesurer la distance qui le sépare du reste du monde. » C’est à ce voyage intérieur que nous convient, à l’occasion du festival Villeneuve en Scène, les membres de la Compagnie du Veilleur. Un voyage de douze minutes au cours duquel un spectateur unique devient le personnage principal de la pièce de Christophe Pellet. Placé au cœur du dispositif scénographique, au plus près de l’intime, des images et des sensations de Paul Fradontal, ce spectateur est projeté dans un univers sonore où il entend, parle et agit à la place du personnage. « La dimension solitaire de ce parcours fait de cette expérience un moment unique, personnel et troublant », déclare Matthieu Roy. Un moment qui, à l’instar de chaque spectacle de la compagnie poitevine, interroge le théâtre et la relation entre acteur et spectateur.
