Rachid Bouali, adolescent de la cité de la Lionderie, dans la banlieue lilloise, a vu s’ouvrir ensemble l’atelier théâtre de son quartier et son avenir. Seul en scène, il raconte comment il est devenu comédien professionnel quand tout le destinait à végéter dans le drame d’une existence ordinaire et morne. Naufragé de l’école, noyé dans les petits trafics, les planches du théâtre deviennent celles de son salut et Sophocle, Molière et Brecht les étoiles d’un ciel jusqu’alors bas et lourd… Abandonnant l’arrêt du bus numéro 26 pour les loges, les cages d’escalier pour la rampe et la vraie vie pour la vie rêvée, le jeune Rachid trouve un sens et un goût inédits à l’existence. La foule des grands soirs participe au spectacle : l’homme-orchestre fait naître en les évoquant avec malice et émotion les mamans émues de voir leurs fistons jouer Antigone, l’animateur dévoué, la jolie Florence, Vincent les grandes oreilles, Miguel l’Espagnol, Mourad l’intello. Toute une humanité sympathique pour un spectacle qui n’en manque pas…
