« Avec ses métaphores qui vous retournent une langue comme une chaussette et vous réinventent le monde, déclare le metteur en scène Philippe Rebbot, sa poésie de l’instant-roi qui transforme votre vision de l’existence et sa mélancolie déguisée en partie de rigolade, Richard Brautigan (ndlr, 1935-1984) est un auteur majeur qui sait mieux que quiconque établir une connivence avec son lecteur. Il le rend meilleur, il lui rend ses rêves, sa poésie intime, il le remet au monde regonflé à bloc. » Voulant réparer l’injustice subie par un écrivain longtemps considéré comme un second couteau de la littérature américaine, Philippe Rebbot et Romane Bohringer portent à la scène Un privé à Babylone, un vrai-faux polar dans lequel un détective privé fauché et désœuvré nous entraine dans ses rêves et son rapport très personnel à la réalité. Du San Francisco des années 1940 à la Babylone du VIème siècle avant Jésus-Christ, c’est à un voyage plein d’humour et d’émotion auquel nous convient la comédienne et le metteur en scène. Un voyage ayant pour ambition de nous faire (re)découvrir Richard Brautigan, de nous mener jusqu’à un espace au sein duquel « les gestes redeviennent sensibles comme un film où l’amour est la vedette, où le rire et la mort se partagent les seconds rôles, avec les cailloux et les nuages. »
