La Turakie, c’est le pays imaginaire au sein duquel Michel Laubu projette, depuis 30 ans, ses spectacles fait de bricolages poétiques et de poésie bricolée. Des spectacles inventés à partir « d’objets recueillis, d’objets usés, entreposés dans les remises et les garages, oubliés dans les greniers, abandonnés dans les rues ou rejetés sur les plages ». Pour sa nouvelle création, le fondateur de la compagnie Turak Théâtre effectue le même travail de récupération et de transformation avec l’opéra le plus célèbre du répertoire français. « Carmen devient un extraordinaire chantier de fouilles imaginaires, un terrain de jeu d’images visuelles et sonores », déclare-t-il. En déplaçant cette œuvre dans un espace de musique de chambre, Michel Laubu vise à faire naître une version ludique et décalée de cette histoire d’amour, un « terrain d’aventures fait de théâtre d’objets à tous les étages ».
