Bobby, biologiste fantaisiste et fantasque, passe son temps à fabriquer des élixirs farfelus qui transforment les chats en pianistes et les arbres en planches à billets. Mais il n’a pas trouvé l’élixir d’amour et se révèle fort novice en une activité qu’il ne connaît que pour l’avoir observée chez les animaux. Il fait donc appel à une agence matrimoniale qui a tout de l’hôtel de passes ambulant et aux services de Sido, plaisante professeur aux méthodes aguerries… Et comme toujours dans les jardins extraordinaires, dans les bluettes sentimentales et dans les chansons populaires, l’amour l’emporte, les méchants sont punis et les amants batifolent gaiement dans la verdure après s’être avoué leur trouble sous la lune… Force est de reconnaître que l’argument inventé par Natalie Van Parys et Lise Martin est assez mince, mais dans la mesure où il sert d’écrin à des petits bijoux qu’on prend toujours plaisir à réentendre, peu importe la teneur de l’intrigue ! L’essentiel étant en effet dans l’interprétation, domaine où la troupe des Cavatines fait preuve d’aisance, d’esprit et de brio.
Un quatuor bien timbré
Nathalie Duong campe une arpenteuse de bitume convertie aux joies de la campagne avec un abattage, un éclat et une vitalité épatants. Vincent Bouchot est un Bobby tout ce qu’il faut de gentiment niais et Pierre Corbel incarne un maquereau transformé en chatte avec une aisance plaisante ! Les voix sont claires, bien posées, le jeu est fluide, les gambettes sont allègres et Denis Chouillet, aussi bon pianiste que chat convaincant, soutient allègrement le jeu de ses camarades en miaulements et ronronnements drolatiques. De refrains en couplets, on retrouve donc avec plaisir les chansons immortalisées par Trenet, Mouloudji, Mistinguett et Jean Sablon ; l’émotion et le rire sont au rendez-vous des retrouvailles avec Jean Nohain, Georges van Parys, Vincent Scotto ou Charles Trenet et l’ensemble compose un spectacle entre nostalgie légère et plaisir bon enfant qui offre l’occasion d’une sympathique détente.
