Ecrivain et journaliste à la Novaïa gazeta, Arkadi Babtchenko a été soldat au sein de l’armée russe durant la guerre de Tchétchénie. Souhaitant témoigner de cette expérience douloureuse et dénoncer « la guerre qui détruit l’homme et fait de lui un mort-vivant », le jeune auteur né en 1977 a écrit Alkhan Yourt,une nouvelle faisant partie du recueil La couleur de la guerre (ouvrage édité aux éditions Gallimard) que Tatiana Frolova a associé à d’autres de ses récits pour donner forme à Une Guerre personnelle. C’est une vision sans fard du conflit tchétchène que présente ce spectacle mêlant jeu, musique et vidéo. Une vision qui porte un éclairage cru sur « les atrocités commises entre ennemis », ainsi que sur « le délabrement absolu de l’armée russe ». « Notre travail artistique sera axé sur les cinq centres de perceptions sensitives, explique la metteure en scène, pour créer chez le spectateur une image subjective de la sensation de la guerre. » Ainsi, en sollicitant nos cinq sens, Tatiana Frolova cherche à nous plonger dans une appréhension intime, personnelle, telle que perçue de l’intérieur par quelqu’un se trouvant au combat. Une appréhension au plus proche de « la vérité de la guerre », de « la vérité du soldat ». Une vérité « tellement énorme et étroite, qu’on ne peut plus respirer ».
