Chercher le théâtre là où il peut surgir, voilà la quête d’Isabelle Lafon, à l’origine d’Igishanga d’après Jean Hatzfeld, et du Journal d’une autre d’après Anna Akhmatova et Lydia Tchoukovskaïa. Aujourd’hui, la metteuse en scène se penche sur une « vraie » pièce – La Mouette de Tchékhov – qui pousse très loin, et de façon magnifique, la question de la représentation du théâtre : « Oui, il s’agit de théâtre ; d’une famille, la mère est actrice, le fils écrivain, l’amant de la mère écrivain officiel, celle que le fils aime veut être actrice… » Sur le plateau nu, comme le préfère l’écrivain russe, se produisent non pas les onze personnages attendus, mais cinq belles actrices à la présence intensément profonde, des instruments humains qui donnent à l’œuvre une autre résonance. Pour le spectateur, c’est aussi faire partie de la représentation et considérer le théâtre comme dernier abri, quand il s’agit d’art, d’amour et de mort. Il ne faut pas manquer cet audacieux quintette d’exception.
