A l’instar de la flamboyante Floria Tosca, les héroïnes de la pièce écrite par Christophe Pellet vivent d’art et d’amour et poussent jusqu’au sacrifice leur dévotion et leurs engagements. Sylvana Pintozzi, la première, actrice déchue tentant désespérément de sauver son théâtre et sa carrière ruinés par le four d’une mise en scène incomprise ; Anne Engstrandt, la deuxième, dramaturge au talent tari ; Hilde Jensen, la troisième, qui renonce à ses rêves de transformation du théâtre de Sylvana en restaurant, et enfin Julia Rees, la quatrième, qui a ressuscité ce lieu en y jouant avec succès la pièce d’Ibsen dont l’échec avait tué Sylvana Pintozzi. L’amour fait le lien entre ces générations de femmes qui aiment les femmes et doivent imposer au monde, en plus de leur talent, leurs prédilections érotiques. Du déni de Sylvana, homosexuelle en secret, au bonheur tranquille de Hilde, qui élève sa fille avec sa compagne, la pièce de Christophe Pellet évoque presque un demi-siècle de combats pour que la société accepte de s’accommoder de la vérité des attachements.
Histoires de femmes et histoire des femmes
Sur un grand plateau de bois nu, tour à tour espace de désolation et de création, les comédiennes dirigées par Jacques David animent les dialogues en relais de ces maîtresses-femmes qui se débattent toutes dans ce dilemme dont Christophe Pellet emprunte la structure aux interrogations des pièces d’Ibsen centrées sur la figure du créateur : une vie réussie est-elle une vie œuvrée ou une vie d’œuvres ? Entre réalisation de soi et production du beau, du bien ou de l’utile, les héroïnes de cette pièce luttent sur tous les fronts. C’est là que le texte de Christophe Pellet atteint parfois les limites du didactisme, en exposant ensemble les combats existentiels, politiques et artistiques de ces Amazones, et la démonstration de l’évolution des mentalités et des comportements saphiques tournent parfois à l’exposé sociologique trop appuyé. Cela étant, le spectacle est sauvé par l’interprétation nuancée et sensible des comédiennes qui offrent un joli kaléidoscope aux féminines couleurs.
