GROS PLAN / OPÉRA DE MARSEILLE
Qu’un théâtre lyrique français ouvre sa saison avec Manon de Massenet, l’un des opéras les plus populaires du répertoire, n’a rien en soi d’extraordinaire. On sait qu’il faut à cet ouvrage une héroïne de premier plan : la présence à Marseille de Patrizia Ciofi dans le rôle-titre en donne l’assurance pour la reprise de la production signée par Renée Auphan et Yves Coudray. Beaucoup plus originale est la programmation en contrepoint, mise en espace par Yves Coudray, du Portrait de Manon, opéra-comique en un acte donné comme une suite fantaisiste à son chef-d’œuvre. Autre rareté à ne pas manquer, Madame Chrysanthème, opéra de Messager d’après un ouvrage de Pierre Loti, dont le sujet – sinon le traitement ! – n’est pas sans évoquer la Madame Butterfly de Puccini, que l’Opéra de Marseille programme au même moment. Caution supplémentaire pour cette redécouverte : le rôle de l’épouse japonaise est confié à la grande Annick Massis. Enfin, on se réjouit de la reprise de L’Aiglon, opéra composé à quatre mains par Arthur Honegger et Jacques Ibert d’après la pièce d’Edmond Rostand, dans la mise en scène de Patrice Caurier et Moshe Leiser. Fin connaisseur du répertoire français des xixe et xxe siècles, Jean-Yves Ossonce dirige une belle distribution avec Stéphanie d’Oustrac dans le rôle du fils de Napoléon.
