Né en Allemagne, Jacques Offenbach a connu le sommet de sa carrière dans le Paris du Second Empire avec ses opéras-bouffes, portés par une veine mélodique et parodique irrésistible, au point d’incarner la quintessence d’un certain esprit français sinon parisien, dont la légèreté contrasterait avec le sérieux de la musique germanique condensée dans les mythes wagnériens. L’Antiquité avec La Belle Hélène, les intrigues politiques et militaires dans La Grande-duchesse de Gérolstein, l’exotisme de pacotille de La Périchole ou encore les plaisirs de La Vie parisienne : tout est prétexte à une alchimie unique entre sentiments et dérision, antidote idéal à la morosité pour les fêtes de fin d’année. Sous la direction de la cheffe d’orchestre américaine Karen Kamensek, la mezzo-soprano Anaïk Morel et le ténor Loïc Félix feront rayonner la verve intarissable d’Offenbach dans un florilège d’airs et de duos où la musique sera comme une carte postale en musique de la Ville Lumière.
