A l’image de Bernard-Marie Koltès et Jean-Luc Lagarce, Raul Damonte Botana, dit Copi, a transfiguré sa maladie par l’écriture dramatique. Comme le remarque le metteur en scène Philippe Calvario, il a osé « transformer le sida en maladie sublime », du « politiquement incorrect, mais sans provocation gratuite ». Cyril, interprété par le grand acteur Michel Fau, est un auteur de théâtre atteint du sida. Vivant ses dernières heures dans une chambre d’hôpital, il voit défiler une galerie de personnages délirants, peints avec beaucoup d’humour par celui qui est surtout connu pour ses dessins caricaturaux. Ces visiteurs inopportuns font un peu oublier que la plus incongrue de toutes les visites est celle de la mort. Cette farce tragique retranscrit toute l’urgence d’écrire de l’auteur mort en 1987 lors des répétitions de sa pièce.
