On ne pouvait rêver duo plus complémentaire : l’un souhaitait devenir danseur, attiré irrésistiblement par l’Opéra de Paris, l’autre s’imaginait concertiste derrière un Steinway. Le premier, Benjamin Millepied, est devenu danseur étoile, chorégraphe, et même brièvement directeur de la Danse à l’Opéra de Paris. Le second s’appelle Alexandre Tharaud, et il est aujourd’hui un brillant pianiste. Ils ont pour point commun d’avoir chacun une mère professeure de danse. Ils se rencontrent. Germe alors l’idée de travailler ensemble. Quelques années passent avant que naisse ce projet de confronter leurs deux métiers, si intimement liés à leur passion commune pour la danse et la musique. Au menu Bach, Rameau, Beethoven, Schubert, Ravel, et le plaisir de revoir Benjamin Millepied danser, seul, inspiré par Alexandre Tharaud, figure unique dans le monde de la musique classique et représentant de premier plan de l’école française. Le titre, Unstill Life, jeu de mot sur Still Life (nature morte), pourrait signifier une vie « en suspens », « en mouvement » ou « intranquille », au choix.
