Théâtre des Champs Elysées Chorégraphie Boris Eifman
Up and down : le titre choisi pour ce ballet traduit non pas les mouvements ascendants et descendants de la danse, mais ceux de l’âme, qui sont au cœur de la pièce. Elle raconte l’histoire d’un homme pris à son propre piège ; psychiatre brillant, il épouse une riche patiente, devient son garde-malade, sacrifie ce qui lui reste jusqu’à devenir l’ombre de lui-même. Les rôles s’inversent, la société dépeinte par ses travers ne faisant qu’engloutir les individus. Boris Eifman nous plonge également dans une autre époque, celle du jazz, dont les accents musicaux résonnent avec les délires et la folie portés par les corps. Le chorégraphe s’empare d’un drame psychologique qui colle parfaitement à son esthétique, jouant de la théâtralité jusqu’aux tréfonds des corps, sans mettre de côté son langage néoclassique et la virtuosité qui accompagne ces solistes et ce corps de ballet, venus tout droit de Saint-Pétersbourg.
