Le travail a commencé dès le mois de juin dernier. Il s’agissait, pour chacun, de faire connaissance, d’entamer un dialogue au long cours et se permettre un temps de « laboratoire ». L’enjeu est de taille : construire un spectacle, certes, mais aussi inviter des étudiants à s’immiscer dans une démarche artistique bien affirmée avec un metteur en scène ou un chorégraphe, et faire en sorte que celui-ci intègre au travail les agrès de chacun. C’est à Árpád Schilling que revient la lourde tâche de mettre en piste les seize élèves. Fondateur de la compagnie Kretakör dès 1995 – il n’a que vingt et un ans – il se consacre pleinement à la mise en scène depuis le succès de Baal de Brecht en 1998. Dès lors, son appétit le porte vers les grands textes, de Tchekhov à Shakespeare, du burlesque pour parler de son pays à l’économie de moyens pour figurer Hamlet… quand ce n’est pas pour aller vers de nouvelles formes. Sa collaboration avec Le Phün l’entraîne à défendre son théâtre dans l’espace public, et ses expériences, notamment avec la MC 93 le conduisent vers un théâtre performatif où l’espace de représentation est totalement bousculé et réinventé.
Une posture d’ouverture sur l’autre
Avec la contrainte de la piste et du chapiteau, c’est une nouvelle expérience pour Árpád Schilling. Lors du premier temps de laboratoire, le metteur en scène s’est attaché à découvrir les histoires personnelles de chacun, à connaître leurs désirs, leurs peurs. Dans un deuxième temps, les circassiens sont partis en résidence à Budapest, testant leur travail d’improvisation dans l’espace public. Dans ce projet, Árpád ne se pose pas en auteur et metteur en scène de spectacle : même s’il écrit des histoires, des chapitres qui vont jalonner Urban Rabbits, il compte beaucoup sur l’abstraction et sur l’épure pour installer les choses. Sa posture ? Apprendre de cette collaboration, dont les contraintes et paramètres sont très précis, donner des règles, et explorer. Plus que transmettre, partager.
