OPÉRA EN CONCERT / VERSAILLES
Quand l’Opéra Comique lui commande une œuvre répondant au goût de l’époque pour le romantisme gothique des poèmes ossianiques, Étienne-Nicolas Méhul (1763-1817) a déjà connu quelques succès. Son talent expressif surtout a été remarqué et il n’hésite pas, par exemple, à supprimer dans Uthal les pupitres de violon afin de donner à l’œuvre une atmosphère plus sombre, propice à évoquer les brumes de l’Écosse fantasmée des bardes. Christophe Rousset poursuit ainsi son exploration du répertoire français jusqu’à l’orée du romantisme avec Les Talens lyriques et le Chœur de chambre de Namur, ainsi qu’avec le concours du Palazzetto Bru Zane. Un enregistrement est d’ores et déjà prévu.
