En 2017, le violiste Valentin Tournet fondait La Chapelle Harmonique, né de la réunion d’un chœur et d’un orchestre sur instruments d’époque. Spécialiste de Bach mais aussi des polyphonies de la Renaissance ou du baroque des Lumières, l’ensemble a interprété plusieurs fois Le Messie de Haendel – dont une représentation mémorable en 2019 à l’Auditorium de Radio-France, où Adèle Charvet remplaçait au pied levé le contre-ténor devenu aphone à l’entracte. Si cet oratorio de 1741, composé en 24 jours seulement, narre la résurrection du Christ, il est avant tout un voyage spirituel et l’un des plus grands chefs-d’œuvre de la musique occidentale. Valentin Tournet en propose une version moderne avec des chanteurs anglophones spécialistes de cette partition.
