Théâtre l’Arrache-Coeur / chanson
Transfuge du groupe les Vendeurs d’enclume, Valérian Renault troque l’énergie jazz-rock alternatif pour un set sous son nom, très personnel. Sans artifice, sans décorum, en solo guitare voix, son personnage et sa musique sont crus, cruels, interprétant cette matière avec une fausse douceur, une douleur veloutée, une grâce très amère. Son jeu semble tenir à peu de choses mais tire pourtant des ficelles puissantes : Valérian Renault incarne ce qu’il raconte, poussant avec justesse une voix à peine voilée, affectée parfois, blessée soudain, une voix plutôt grave qui pousse la tessiture, une voix qui sait être caressante pour cacher une rugosité ancrée, une voix qui tient haute, fière et brisée.
Des émotions sur la corde raide
Les mélodies jouent sur les changements de modes, les ruptures et les épaisseurs. Les textes voguent entre entre le passionnel et le détachement, entre le vital et l’enterré, le valsant et le noir. L’écriture résiste aux poncifs, les consonances appuient les sens, avec en pédale un désespoir sourd ou gueulé. Un talent flagrant, explosif, lumineux malgré la nudité de la scénographie.
