OPERA COMIQUE / OPERA ROYAL DE VERSAILLES
Les murs de l’Opéra de Versailles n’ont pas oublié les prouesses de Leonardo García Alarcón et de sa Cappella Mediterranea, grands ambassadeurs du compositeur Francesco Cavalli (1602-1676), dont le monde lyrique ne cesse d’explorer avec enthousiasme voire frénésie les trésors depuis une décennie environ. C’était Erismena, fin 2017. Deux ans plus tard, c’est au tour d’un autre nouvel héros de la scène baroque, Raphaël Pichon, de se consacrer au compositeur lombard. C’est une œuvre conçue pour la France, fruit d’une commande par Mazarin pour le mariage de Louis XIV avec l’infante d’Espagne en avril 1660, mais finalement créée deux ans plus tard, que le jeune français aborde aujourd’hui, d’abord à l’Opéra Comique puis à Versailles… Auprès de lui, ses choeur et orchestre Pygmalion, et un tandem de metteurs en scène, Valérie Lesort et Christian Hecq. « La mise en scène de ce dangereux bijou ne pouvait que nous tenter. Elle nous permet de déployer le visuel et la magie qui constituent notre marque de fabrique. La musique est porteuse d’images, et Raphaël Pichon nous a aidé à l’appréhender dans toute sa richesse et sa profondeur. Travailler sur une œuvre méconnue, car rarement représentée, offre aussi une grande liberté. » confient-ils.
