« Versus ». C’est-à-dire « contre ». Une posture vent debout que tient depuis bien longtemps Rodrigo Garcia. Contre la marchandisation généralisée du bonheur usiné conforme, contre les bonnes intentions tonitruantes justifiant à qui mieux mieux la démission politique, contre le trafic vénal des misères recyclées en booster de consommation… Il répond dent pour dent, en jouant des illusions de la représentation, en poussant à bout toutes les logiques souterraines, à peine masquées sous l’emballage des habitudes. Jusqu’à excaver l’obscénité latente et les tartufferies ordinaires d’une société gavée d’images formatées en guise de pensée. L’auteur et metteur en scène madrilène ne ménage jamais les maux, quitte à railler ses propres contradictions ou effaroucher les mœurs culturelles qui souvent préfèrent la contestation proprement cadrée.
Le trouble de l’incertitude
Rompant la lignée des précédents spectacles, qui parfois tendaient à surligner le propos à gros traits au risque se faire moralisateur, Rodrigo Garcia revient à une forme plus complexe, plus ambiguë aussi, et s’interroge en scène sur l’acte même de « prendre la parole sur un plateau ». « Peut-être était-ce beaucoup plus efficace sur le plan de l’action politique de fouiller dans le poétique et l’obscur. En fin de compte c’est ça qui manque à la société actuelle, de l’audace et de l’incertitude, du mystère et de la poésie. » dit-il. Pour lui, il s’agit toujours de combattre, depuis l’intérieur du système. En déboulonnant les certitudes, par la force de la poétique.
