« Cela tient dans un petit coffre en plomb où logerait à peine le corps d’un nouveau-né. Des liasses de feuilles de papier couvertes d’une écriture fine. Comme mangées par l’encre des mots. Son corps à elle fut enseveli en 1625 dans un linceul à même la terre, selon la règle du couvent de Port-Royal-des-Champs. » Elle : Mathilde Sincy, figure juvénile et torturée du XVIIème siècle qui s’éteint, à l’âge de 23 ans, après une existence de doutes, de troubles, d’embrasements et de révoltes. C’est à cette intériorité enflammée que Dominique Chryssoulis donne la parole dans ce poème dramatique à deux voix, à cette âme recluse au sein d’un monde terrestre qui la heurte et la meurtrit. Aspirant à l’amour d’une mère insensible, tentant de se réconcilier avec la vie par le biais de fiançailles, finissant par répondre à l’appel mystique de sa quête d’absolu, Mathilde Sincy vibre et meurt comme un feu trop ardent, un feu qui se cherche sans parvenir à se trouver. Réunissant sur scène deux comédiennes (Marie Berthe Bornens, Moana Ferré) et trois instrumentistes (Françoise Perrin, Ingrid Schoënlaub, le compositeur et contrebassiste Pierre Feyler), René Albold crée un spectacle à la fois lyrique et épuré.
Epanchements épistolaires et récits biographiques
Car à l’énergie jaillissante, expansive, frémissante de la jeune Moana Ferré, répondent la mesure de Marie Berthe Bornens et le dépouillement esthétique élaboré par la mise en scène. A l’intérieur et autour d’un plan scénique entièrement nu, seuls les voix, les corps et la musique impriment leurs marques pour dire ce que fut la vie de cette jeune femme au parcours étonnant de vérité, parcours d’un personnage pourtant issu de l’esprit de l’auteure. Les deux comédiennes s’inscrivent ainsi dans deux codes de jeux distincts et complémentaires, l’une narrant les principaux points de repère de l’existence de Mathilde Sincy, l’autre investissant jusque dans sa chair les épanchements épistolaires de l’héroïne. Ces chants et contre-chants intimes s’embrassent et se répondent pour composer un genre de musique de chambre théâtrale cultivant de jolis clairs-obscurs. « C’est le rôle du théâtre d’isoler un lieu, un moment du tumulte du monde, où l’on pourra prendre le recul nécessaire pour y ressentir une parole, un chant, une musique », déclare René Albold. La Vie de Mathilde Sincy nous mène pleinement jusqu’à ce lieu, ce moment de répit et d’écoute.
