Il est toujours savoureux que des auteurs s’emparent de personnages de fiction pour leur rendre hommage et prolonger leur vie. Témoin François-Henri Désérable avec son savoureux roman M. Pikielny qui ressuscite un voisin de Romain Gary évoqué dans La Promesse de l’aube. Ou ici le comédien et auteur Jacques Hadjaje avec Mère Hollunder, un personnage de Liliom de Ferenc Molnár. Un personnage qu’il connaît bien puisqu’il l’a interprété en 2015 dans une mise en scène de Jean Bellorini. Dans son spectacle intitulé Vie et Mort de Mère Hollunder, Jacques Hadjaje renoue donc avec ce personnage épisodique mais l’amplifie au point d’en faire un seul-en-scène d’une heure. Il se glisse une nouvelle fois dans la peau de cette femme explosive qui résiste aux fantômes du passé grâce à son mot préféré : « non » : « un ‘non’ joyeux, malin, déraisonnable ». Et pour boucler la boucle, Jacques Hadjaje s’entoure de Jean Bellorini à la collaboration artistique et de Laurianne Scimemi pour les costumes : elle avait déjà créé ceux de Liliom.
