Trois clowns sur le déclin, mis sur la touche et relégués dans une salle d’attente à la Beckett, attendent l’embauche. Jadis, ils ont travaillé ensemble chez Humberto. La joie de se retrouver fait bientôt place à la dispute : l’offre ne concerne qu’un seul poste. Pathétiques et drôles, les trois compères (interprétés par Serge Barbuscia, Richard Martin et Pierre Forest) oscillent entre le rire et les larmes, et cette comédie grinçante et drôle fait écho à nos angoisses dans une société où la jeunesse, la rentabilité et l’efficacité sont les critères du mérite et de la valeur. Avec une infinie délectation, Virginie Lemoine tente d’élucider qui, de ces trois clowns, peut prétendre être le meilleur candidat. Le plus talentueux ? Le plus facétieux ? Le plus original ? Le plus inventif ? Le plus charismatique ? Ou simplement le plus vieux ? Un suspens haletant mené tambour battant par trois athlètes de la scène.
