« La folie était le seul moyen d’atteindre la vérité. » dit Mary Barnes dans son Voyage à travers la folie qu’adapte et interprète Véronique Widock. Atteinte d’une psychose dont on anesthésiait habituellement les effets par le traitement électrique et chimique, Mary Barnes a réussi, grâce à Joseph Berke, son analyste, et à l’incroyable courage dont elle fit preuve pour tâcher d’élucider les racines de son mal, à sortir de la toile de la folie et à « recracher l’araignée ». Cet incroyable voyage à travers le temps, le langage et la souffrance est porté à la scène dans un espace abstrait où le verbe et le corps de la comédienne mettent en lumière l’accouchement qu’il constitue et la découverte de l’artiste peintre que Mary Barnes devient au terme de son périple. A l’occasion de ce « témoignage unique qui bouscule les préjugés sur la folie et ouvre de belles perspectives humaines et éthiques à la guérison » en faisant la preuve de l’efficacité thérapeutique de l’antipsychiatrie qui sauva Mary Barnes, le Hublot repose la question de l’état actuel du traitement de la folie en France. Aujourd’hui décriée au nom des angoisses sécuritaires qui préfèrent la contention et l’isolement à la compréhension patiente de la réalité sociale de l’aliénation, l’antipsychiatrie se voit remplacée par des solutions plus rentables où normalisation et exclusion font comme toujours bon ménage. Voyage à travers les ombres et les rencontres-discussions organisées à l’issue de ce spectacle sont l’occasion de penser à nouveau l’impensable de la folie.
