Attention événement : le légendaire saxophoniste est en concert à Paris avec son magistral quartet régulier.
Musicien historique, compositeur majeur, instrumentiste virtuose (au ténor et au soprano), leader et directeur musical incontesté, Wayne Shorter porte en lui à la fois la mémoire du mouvement bop (il débute chez Art Blakey au début des années 60), l’esprit de la modernité (Miles Davis le repère et l’appelle au sein de son quintette révolutionnaire en 1964) et enfin l’explosion du jazz-rock, d’abord auprès du trompettiste (In A Silent Way) puis évidemment en tandem avec Joe Zawinul avec lequel il fonde Weather Report en 1971 à New York.
Vingt-cinq ans après la dissolution de Weather Report, à 80 ans passés, le saxophoniste est toujours là, à la tête de son quartet régulier depuis 10 ans au sein duquel irradie le talent insensé du pianiste Danilo Perez, savamment entouré de John Patitucci à la contrebasse et Brian Blade à la batterie. Une légende.
