L’intérêt de cette nouvelle proposition de la saison de l’orchestre francilien est double. Il tient d’abord à la personnalité de son chef invité, l’italien surdoué Tito Ceccherini. Cet ancien élève de Salvatore Sciarrino et Peter Eötvös excelle à la fois dans l’interprétation des musiques des XVIIe et XVIIIe siècles sur instruments d’époque et dans la défense des grandes partitions du XXè siècle et d’oeuvres nouvelles. Le second point fort de cette série de concerts est l’originalité de son programme, intitulé Week-end à Rome, qui présente des opus de musique française inspirés par l’Italie. La très rare Symphonie Roma de Bizet, œuvre posthume beaucoup moins jouée que la juvénile Symphonie en ut, précèdera lors de ces soirées deux partitions de Debussy également souvent délaissées, toutes les deux composées en 1887-1888 lors du séjour du compositeur à la Villa Médicis : la suite symphonique Printemps et le poème lyrique pour deux voix de femmes solistes, chœur et orchestre La Damoiselle élue, sur un poème de l’anglais Dante Gabriel Rossetti. Avec la soprano Melody Louledjian, la mezzo Catherine Trottmann et l’ensemble Sequenza 9.3. de Catherine Simonpietri.
