A première vue, l’intitulé de l’événement peut surprendre. Schubert et Korngold ont des personnalités éloignées, tant par l’époque à laquelle ils ont vécu que par leurs musiques respectives. Et pourtant, en y regardant de plus près, il est vrai que l’on peut trouver des échos du génie schubertien dans la musique de Korngold. Ses envolées lyriques et impulsives rappellent parfois le Sturm und Drang. Dans les thèmes de ses musiques de films, qui sont des modèles du genre hollywoodien, souffle souvent le vent du romantisme viennois. Servi par des interprètes de premier choix, ce week-end participe au renouveau Korngold auquel on assiste depuis quelques années. On pourra ainsi écouter son Quintette ou sa Sonate pour violon et piano, mis en perspective avec les chefs-d’oeuvre intemporels que sont La truite ou le Quintette à deux violoncelles de Franz Schubert.
