CONTEMPORAIN / PHILHARMONIE
Entre classiques revisités – Music for pieces of wood, Six pianos réinterprétés par les musiciens électro Stargaze et Chassol –, et créations – Pulse pour ensemble, piano et guitare électrique, Runner pour double ensemble confiés à l’Ensemble Modern –, la Philharmonie trace le parcours de ce compositeur pionnier, qui, à partir d’un matériau « minimaliste », est parvenu à se forger un langage original et toujours enrichi. La musique de Steve Reich, d’une conception particulièrement méticuleuse, est toujours accessible car immédiatement impressionnante. Elle est aussi, souvent, un regard porté sur le monde, comme en témoignent les œuvres interprétées par le Kronos Quartet (le 16 novembre à 16h30), où à une écriture instrumentale se superposent les voix et les bruits du monde : WTC 9/11 évoque les attentats du 11 septembre 2001, Different Trains l’enfance du compositeur mais aussi les convois de la Shoah.
