WIP, c’est l’abréviation de Work In Progress. Ce nouveau lieu, pensé comme le prolongement du festival des “Rencontres de la Villette“, est dédié aux cultures urbaines, mais aussi à ce que l’on appelle faute de mieux les « nouveaux territoires de l’art », qui remettent en jeu les liens entre la création artistique et la société : culture en prison, pratiques croisées entre amateurs et professionnels, culture à l’hôpital, théâtre social, expériences participatives… Le WIP Villette doit permettre aux artistes de développer leur travail dans un lieu permanent, qui sera également pour eux un « lieu ressource » où ils pourront être conseillés et accompagnés dans leur démarche. Pour le public, ce lieu sera un espace de découverte. En-dehors d’une soirée payante mensuelle, l’accès aux différentes manifestations sera gratuit. Le projet démarre les 4 et 5 février par deux journées composées de tables rondes, spectacles, présentations de projets et d’extraits de création, principalement en danse hip-hop.
