// Interstices et le Théâtre de la Valse ont travaillé les fragments de l’œuvre inachevée de Büchner en proposant plusieurs formes successives qui ont progressivement arpenté le texte. Ils aboutissent aujourd’hui à un spectacle qui parachève leurs recherches. Choisissant d’élucider au plateau des enjeux dramaturgiques de la pièce, les artistes de ces deux compagnies parviennent à unifier ce matériau littéraire en éclats, et incarnent, avec une stupéfiante vérité et une intense épaisseur charnelle, les différents personnages de ce drame de la misère, de la jalousie et de la folie. Woyzeck, soldat pauvre qui cumule les emplois d’exploités pour finir son mois, se fait l’assassin de Marie, qui excite sa jalousie en passant de bras en bras. Confrontant le matériau dramaturgique à leurs « propres positions d’hommes et femmes d’aujourd’hui », avec la volonté de « saisir la constellation que notre propre époque forme avec telle époque antérieure », les deux compagnies actualisent ce texte écrit en 1836, transposant la petite ville de garnison allemande, qui sert de cadre originel au fait-divers criminel, en un huis clos militaire où sadiques et pervers malmènent le malheureux Woyzeck, cocu ridicule, pantin victime de sa pauvreté et psychotique poussé à bout par les agaceries d’une femme trop désirable pour être celle d’un seul.
Une interprétation de haute volée pour un spectacle de haute tenue
La scénographie de Michaël Viala dessine deux vastes cercles lumineux installés en perspective, qui procurent la profondeur et l’espace nécessaires au dynamisme effréné des affects. Dans ces deux arènes qu’éclaire avec talent Gilbert Guillaumond, les corps interprètent une chorégraphie des haines et des attachements, des empoignades amoureuses et bagarreuses. Suggérant adroitement la « bestiologie » à laquelle se livre Büchner en auscultant la nature humaine et en interrogeant sa disposition au mal, les comédiens s’emparent des personnages avec une énergie captivante et une vitalité fascinante. Michaël Hallouin (Woyzeck) et Antoine Sterne (le tambour-major) réussissent – l’effet est assez rare pour être salué – à transcender les limites de la théâtralité avec un talent sidérant. Autour d’eux, Laurélie Riffault (saisissante et émouvante Marie), Bernard Cupillard, Renaud Golo, Sandra Iché, Luce Le Yannou, Marilia Loyola de Menezes et Gilles Masson composent une troupe unifiée, juste et efficace. Le travail de ces artistes réunis et la mise en scène de Marie Lamachère offrent un spectacle abouti et un authentique et remarquable moment de théâtre.
