VIOLONCELLE ET ORCHESTRE / PARIS ET ÎLE-DE-FRANCE
Créé en 1970 à Aix-en-Provence par Mstislav Rostropovitch, le concerto pour violoncelle d’Henri Dutilleux, Tout un monde lointain… s’est imposé immédiatement comme un chef-d’œuvre que les solistes se sont empressés d’inscrire à leur répertoire. Xavier Phillips défend cette partition inspirée par Baudelaire depuis plus de vingt ans et sait lui donner sa force poétique. Œuvre atypique, en cinq mouvements enchaînés, elle perpétue une tradition d’invention formelle qui remonte à Debussy. L’orchestre jouera justement le Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune, également d’inspiration toute poétique (Mallarmé), et La Mer, vraie fausse symphonie dont les transparences ont à l’évidence inspiré Dutilleux.
