En juin dernier, il était sur la scène du Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, le voilà de retour à Paris, toujours à la tête de l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Rotterdam. Une formation dont il accompagne et surtout suscite l’ascension depuis quatre ans. Ce travail patient et ambitieux, inscrit dans la durée, vise à imposer la phalange néerlandaise dans le circuit d’élite des orchestres symphoniques européens. Mais un autre défi attend dès ce début de saison le petit surdoué québécois puisqu’il fera ses premiers pas en qualité de nouveau directeur musical de l’Orchestre de Philadelphie (à la suite de Charles Dutoit), lors d’un concert inaugural prévu le 18 octobre au Verizon Hall.
Pour l’heure, Yannick Nézet-Séguin reste sur le sol européen et dirige à Paris un programme qui culminera avec la Neuvième symphonie de Dvorak, débutera avec La Moldau de Smetana et apportera sa touche de frisson supplémentaire avec le Poème de l’amour et de la mer de Chausson chanté par la grande mezzo néerlandaise Christianne Stotijn, mélodiste dans l’âme, très rare sur les scènes d’opéra (elle ne chante qu’une production par an), recherchant par dessus tout l’intimité du concert.
