ORCHESTRE SYMPHONIQUE / THEATRE DES CHAMPS-ELYSEES
A moins de 40 ans, ce jeune québécois surdoué est déjà, depuis 2008, directeur musical de l’Orchestre philharmonique de Rotterdam, depuis 2012 de l’Orchestre de Philadelphie, et plus récemment Premier Chef invité de l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Londres. La salle de l’Avenue Montaigne a eu le flair de l’associer en qualité de résident dans son projet de redonner une vraie place à sa formation européenne dans le circuit international. Dans ce défi d’imposer au premier plan l’orchestre d’une ville de taille moyenne, Nézet-Séguin s’est choisi comme modèle et repère le travail accompli par Simon Rattle à Birmingham. « C’est un orchestre qui mérite vraiment d’être plus connu. Il offre une telle puissance, une telle implication des musiciens ! confie le jeune chef. Rotterdam est une ville portuaire, très moderne, tandis qu’Amsterdam est plus aristocratique. On retrouve cette différence au niveau des orchestres. Les musiciens de Rotterdam ne cherchent pas à imiter et préfèrent au contraire cultiver la différence ». Pour leur prochain rendez-vous parisien, Brahms (Concerto pour piano n° 1) et Tchaïkovski (Symphonie n° 5) sont au programme, avec le phénoménal prodige polonais Rafał Blechacz en soliste, pianiste d’exception qui remporta cinq prix au Concours Chopin de Varsovie il y a tout juste 10 ans.
