Fidèle à son principe novateur et partageur, le label Jazz & People (de notre collègue Vincent Bessières) a fait appel à un financement participatif pour sortir le cinquième album de Yotam Silberstein. En évoquant ce « Village », le new-yorkais d’adoption semble penser autant à son quartier fétiche de Manhattan, Greenwich Village, qu’au village global qu’est devenue notre planète, où les musiques s’échangent et circulent en liberté. Porté par un all stars quartet composé d’Aaron Goldberg (piano), Reuben Rogers (basse) et Greg Hutchinson (batterie), son répertoire ne s’embarrasse d’aucune frontière, juxtaposant dans son jazz des influences musicales israéliennes et arabes ou croisant samba brésilienne et milonga argentine. Yotam Silberstein cite d’ailleurs parmi ses influences des musiciens aussi différents que Bach, Charlie Parker, Chico Buarque, BB King, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Keith Jarrett, Maurice Ravel, Ryiad Al Sunbaty ou Astor Piazzolla et répète son rêve de musicien de toujours : jouer avec Stevie Wonder…
