PHILHARMONIE / PIANO ET ORCHESTRE
Quand il fit irruption sur la scène musicale européenne avec des œuvres puissantes comme Kraft (1985) ou Kinetics (1988), Magnus Lindberg s’imposa comme un maître de l’énergie et de la couleur. Depuis, le geste s’est assagi et le compositeur finlandais suit désormais une veine inspirée de la tradition classique et romantique, qui s’illustre notamment dans de nombreux concertos. Après Paul Crossley en 1991 puis Yefim Bronfman en 2012, c’est à Yuja Wang que Magnus Lindberg dédie ce Troisième concerto pour piano poétique et virtuose, chargé de réminiscences. La fougueuse pianiste chinoise l’a créé il y a quelques mois à San Francisco sous la direction d’Esa-Pekka Salonen. L’Orchestre de Paris, co-commanditaire, est ici dirigé par Klaus Mäkelä, dans un programme romantique : Valse triste de Sibelius et Symphonie « pathétique » de Tchaïkovski.
