OPÉRA COMIQUE / NOUVELLE PRODUCTION
Le Liégeois Grétry (1741-1813) n’est toujours pas reconnu à sa juste valeur : un maître de l’opéra français dans ce qu’il a de plus vif. Jamais en manque de fantaisie, il la doit certes à ses librettistes – celui que Marmontel écrit pour Zémire et Azor est particulièrement piquant. Mais c’est surtout l’usage qu’il en fait, s’émancipant des conventions, adoptant un chant qui n’hésite pas à imiter le parlé (voir le chant de la fauvette) et lui prodiguant un accompagnement orchestral suggestif, mobile et raffiné. C’est une musique qui avance toujours avec entrain et se prête joyeusement à la féerie. Louis Langrée et Michel Fau partagent ce goût du rythme, chacun à sa manière. Ils entraînent avec eux une prometteuse distribution : le ténor Philippe Talbot (Azor) qui a fait sien ce répertoire, la toute jeune Julie Roset (Zémire) ou encore Marc Mauillon (Sander, son père) et Sahy Ratia, que l’on est heureux de retrouver dans le rôle – plein de drôlerie – du valet Ali.
