Dans le lieu historique et encore méconnu du Collège des Bernardins (fondé au XIIè siècle), récemment entièrement rénové et réaménagé, un cycle de concerts et débats est consacré au thème du « musicien face au pouvoir politique ». Deux pianistes (et auteurs) ayant vécu dans leur parcours personnel cette nécessité, en qualité d’artiste, de prendre position face à un pouvoir autoritaire, sont au programme. La chinoise Zhu Xiao-Mei, exilée depuis 1979 et installée à Paris, a vécu l’horreur des camps de Mao. Une expérience dramatique qu’elle a relatée dans un bouleversant livre de souvenirs La Rivière et son secret (Robert Laffont). En concert, elle revient à Bach, son compositeur de prédilection, en interprétant des extraits du Premier livre du Clavier bien tempéré. Quelques jours plus tard, le 11 juin, Mikhaïl Rudy jouera Brahms (3 Intermezzi op. 117, 6 Klavierstücke op. 118), Prokofiev (Prélude op. 12 n°7, Visions fugitives, extraits de Roméo et Juliette) et Stravinsky (Petrouchka). Ce grand pianiste russe, devenu français, a raconté sa vie dramatique et merveilleuse à la fois (il est né en avril 1953, à Tachkent en Ouzbékistan, où sa famille avait été déportée par le régime soviétique) dans Le Roman d’un pianiste, L’impatience de vivre (Éd. du Rocher). Deux tables rondes complètent ce cycle de concerts, consacrées à « Wagner et le nazisme » (le 2 juin) et « Haydn serviteur et créateur » (le 16).
