Théâtre des Abbesses / de Teatro Praga
Né à Lisbonne en 1888, Fernando Pessoa a passé une partie de son enfance et de son adolescence (de 1896 à 1905) à Durban, en Afrique du Sud. Explorant les influences qu’a pu avoir cette « décennie africaine » sur la production littéraire de l’écrivain, les membres de Teatro Praga ont élaboré un voyage libre et fantaisiste qui, comme toutes les propositions du collectif, s’affranchit des cadres traditionnels du théâtre. « Zululuzu est un poème-hommage dédié à Fernando Pessoa et à l’Afrique du Sud, expliquent les artistes portugais, une création visant à mettre un terme à un “apartheid” des idées, des genres et des formes. » En affirmant que l’écrivain est constitué, à parts égales, d’influences portugaises et sud-africaines, le collectif Teatro Praga s’attache à remettre en cause « nos représentations coloniales d’un ailleurs exotique ». Et fait émerger une « nouvelle esthétique culturelle » à travers laquelle le proche et le lointain, l’intime et l’extime peuvent se rejoindre, plutôt que de se trouver inévitablement renvoyés dos à dos.
